FA-XIS Food X-ray Inspection Machine: Detect Foreign Bodies in Packaged Food

A metal detector catches steel, iron and aluminum. It cannot see glass, stone, bone, hard plastic, rubber or ceramic — the contaminants that trigger recalls, retailer audits and consumer complaints. The Fanchi-tech FA-XIS food X-ray inspection machine uses real-time imaging to spot dense foreign bodies inside sealed packaging, through foil, film, boxes and cans, before the product reaches the shelf.

The machines in our Zhejiang photo are the standard packaged-food FA-XIS line: a fully enclosed stainless steel shielded cabinet with a viewing window, conveyor belt through the tunnel, and a slide reject chute diverting contaminated packs off the line. Every unit is built, shielded and tested on our floor before shipment.

What an X-ray Sees That a Metal Detector Cannot

  • Stainless steel, ferrous and non-ferrous metal
  • Glass and ceramic fragments
  • Stone, gravel and mineral particles
  • Bone and shell chips
  • Hard plastic and dense rubber
  • Missing components, broken product and fill-level defects

The FA-XIS series also confirms package integrity, broken pieces and missing counts in the same scan.

FA-XIS8040 800×400 350/480W SUS Φ0.3mm 10–40m/min 50kg Oversized cartons / pallets

Foreign body sensitivity (catalog values):

  • SUS304 stainless steel ball: Φ0.3mm
  • Metal wire: 0.2×2mm (standard/bulk/DE series); 0.3×2mm on 6030/8040 and can series
  • Glass / ceramic ball: Φ1.0–1.5mm (by model)

How It Works Inline

  1. Pack enters the shielded tunnel on the conveyor.
  2. VJT/DT X-ray source transmits through the pack; the detector builds a real-time image.
  3. Built-in algorithms compare against the stored product recipe and flag dense foreign bodies.
  4. A matched rejector diverts contaminated packs; clean packs continue to packing.
  5. Images and alarms log for HACCP and audit records.

Reject Options

Flipper, Pusher, Flapper, Air Blast, Drop-down, Heavy Pusher — matched to pack shape, weight and line speed; slide chute as shown in the photo for packaged goods.
